Diverse. Individuals. Special. Motivated. My second graders are just that! They enter my classroom, from day one, with an excitement, a passion, and an energy for learning. Regardless of ethnicity, background, home life, medical diagnosis, or academic ability, they all have one thing in common: the desire to learn.
I have never met a child that did not want to learn.
Teaching, isn't just my job. Teaching is my passion. The children in my room aren't just my students. They are loved and cared about as individuals. Each one is different. Some are working on grade level, while others are working below or above. Some receive enrichment, while others remediation. Some speak limited English, while others are fluent. Some love math, while others can't wait for reading! This is the reality of a classroom. Yet, this is what makes teaching what it is today!
My Project
Coding has increasingly become apart of today's classrooms. As students strive to become college and career ready, it is crucial that they are apart of a classroom that is equipped with the technology and tools that will teach them coding skills.
Coding allows students to work collaboratively as they apply reading, math, writing, and communication skills.
It allows them to problem solve, while being creative thinkers.
Students learn that not all answers and solutions come easily and that at times it takes trial and error. Even once solutions are reached, reflection is necessary. What worked well? What difficulties did you face? What would you do differently next time? How can you make it more efficient?
Through Dash and Dot and Ozobot EVO my students will have the opportunity to continue to learn how to use coding and apply it to their futures.
