My Students

This is my fourteenth year teaching, but my fifth year teaching fifth grade. Students at my school walk into the classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited to participate in the learning opportunities that take place in our school's community.

Students have many obstacles to overcome in order to become the knowledgeable and independent citizens of our future.

The staff at our school takes every opportunity to partner with their parents and members of our community to give them as many fulfilling educational experiences as possible. These are very special students who want to learn, and they deserve every advantage they can be given.

My Project

I am requesting 8 Ozobot Robots to be used to teach coding in the classroom. I intend to have my students use the Ozobot Coding Robots in small groups to learn and explore through coding. Not only will my students be able to learn coding in class, but they will also be able to work collaboratively with classmates in the process. My class will also be able to take ownership in this project, while gaining confidence in their work. With this technology, my students will be able to engage 21st century skills.

This will allow students to adhere to our curriculum and state standards of learning and also work on life skills that will help them later in life as adults on a career path.

I am excited to watch them take ownership and pride learning throughout this school year. This project will not only have huge academic benefits but will also teach my students collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity through the use of technology.
