My students need a Wonder Workshop Dash Robot, Dash & Dot Learn to Code Challenge Cards, and Osmo Coding Awbie and Jam games to keep them motivated in 21st century skills.
My district is made up of students who are living below the poverty rate. They come to school with very little outside of the classroom experiences. They are eager to learn and have a thirst for new knowledge. I try to provide them with as many positive experiences as possible that will broaden their horizons and show them what life is outside of their community. I am hoping that by giving them a positive start to their education, they will continue their learning for a long time.
My Project
My students are motivated by technology. Anything that I introduce to them is so much more exciting if they get to use a chromebook or an IPAD. The same assignment that they moan and groan about is met with cheers and excitement when technology is thrown into the mix.
I would like to give my students experience with coding.
Coding is a skill that so many people are gaining knowledge in. It is a skill that fits into 21st century learning. Coding activities will allow my students to problem solve, work together with other peers, and be creative in their thinking.
I currently have two Osmos in my classroom that my students love to use for math and word skills. I think that having the Osmo Coding Awbie and Jam games will extend their excitement into a new direction.
A few of the students have been able to use coding robots in an enrichment class. I would like to have the Wonder Workshop Dash Robot and Dash & Dot Learn to Code Challenge Card box set so that I can introduce this to more students in my classroom.
