Kindergarten is full of learning, laughter, fun, and investigation! My kindergarten class consists of 18 energetic students. Some of my students are ESL (English as a Second Language) learners, and they come to me at the beginning of the year with little to no English. And for many of my students this is their very first school experience. Therefore, making it our job to make their first year of school a fun and memorable learning experience.
More than three-quarters of our students are from low-income households, making over 76% of our student population eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
With a surge of interest in technology and coding. Coding is a basic literacy in the digital age, and it is important for children to understand and be able to work with and understand the technology around them. Having children learn coding at a young age prepares them for the future. Coding helps children with communication, creativity, math, writing, and confidence. It fosters students mathematical and computational ideas. In addition, coding encourages students' learning strategies in problem-solving, logical reasoning, peer collaboration and sharing.
These coding robots and accessories will help inspire my students to creatively learn to code.
They are child friendly, with programming tools and activities for beginner level coders. Teaching students sequencing, estimation, problem-solving, and just having fun!
