My Students

My children come from diverse backgrounds and I strive to make our classroom a welcoming environment for all learners, where they have the opportunity to explore, investigate and collaborate with each other. In today's world of technology, coding becomes as important as reading, writing and math. With limited funds and resources, students rarely are given the opportunity to learn how to code.

Coding will build my kindergartners' creativity, communication and problem solving skills and support their growth in reading, writing and math.

Coding will provide meaningful opportunities for my students to integrate content areas, such as math, science, reading and writing. By learning coding at an early age, it will give them the time to develop skills that they will use in later grades and put them on an early path towards science and technology innovation. The Lego kits will support coding in my classroom by using a familiar toy to teach skills that will help students to be ready for the future.

My Project

My children need to be 21st century learners. These Lego Kits will provide opportunities to code and use problem solving skills that help with reading, writing, speaking and math.

Coding strengthens communication skills, promotes creativity, and teaches children real world problems that they can solve in a fun way that is appropriate for their developmental needs.

Using their favorite Lego toy in a new way will allow my children to learn to code through their natural love for play. Coding will teach my children a new language. This will strengthen their verbal skills as they communicate with friends to solve problems and learn that mistakes are part of learning. They will also use their creativity and critical thinking skills as they work together through different scenarios. Learning to code early will build confidence in problem solving and support math and reading to help my children be successful in the future.
