Help me give my students the opportunity to think creatively and critically by providing us with Learning Resources Botley the Coding Robot Activity Sets.
Our class is comprised of 25 extremely diverse Kindergartners, representing 13 distinct ethnicities. I love that we are truly a melting pot, and this helps lay the foundation for the children to learn acceptance of everyone.
Kindergarten sets the stage for a lifetime of learning, and I want to encourage the innate inquisitive natures of my eager young students who come to school everyday full of curiosity, questions, and boundless energy.
Our school spans Transitional Kindergarten through fifth grade. We are ethnically and linguistically diverse with hugely varying academic levels and interests.
My Project
The jobs of the future include coding in almost every field imaginable, and we can provide our little ones with opportunities to see if they have the skill and/or passion to pursue this path.
My students needs hands-on activities to help them develop and refine critical and creative thinking skills, and Botley the Coding Robot is the perfect companion to teach basic coding skills.
It will help students with directionality, and it will also help them learn to plan ahead and also how to revise their thinking in order to problem-solve.
Controlling the robot and seeing it in action helps them understand what their directions cause the robot to do. I can also integrate the robot into all subject areas as a fun means of assessing my students' content knowledge, where they program the robot to find the answers on a floor grid. In teams, they learn to cooperate and collaborate with each other.
