My students need these Lego WeDo 2.0 Core sets to learn about coding and building their critical thinking skills. We are working to increase interest in STEAM related areas in our school!

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are no strangers to challenges in-and-out of school. Despite the many challenges they face, I am committed to bringing them rich and deep lessons to engage their love of learning.
My students are movers and shakers.
They like to move and love attention. Many of them are being raised in non-traditional households and receive a free lunch based on their socio-economic status. These challenges can prevent them from typical life experiences that so many of us enjoy.
When students are in my classroom, I work to create meaningful interactions and activities that engage them and make them want to be there. While I cannot control what happens when they go home, I can affect their daily experiences at school. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful my lessons and love provide them with the motivation to become life-long learners.
My students struggle with critical thinking and digging deeper into complex information. Through this project, I hope students will gain hands-on experiences and increase their thinking skills by building and coding machines.
My students learn in a variety of different ways, and this LEGO Education unit would allow them many different facets to learn from.
In a sense, I'm using their personal interests to "trick" them into digging deeper and solving problems on their own!
My goal is to increase interest in STEAM related fields to motivate students to continue learning. While increasing experiences students will also work on critical thinking skills that can help them in a variety of different ways in and out of the classroom!
