Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are interested, intelligent, curious, energetic learners who are excited about school! They are eager to learn and explore new ways to expand their knowledge.
Each student is unique with their own goals and learning strategies and a love to demonstrate their knowledge in various ways!
They enjoy the new daily challenges that come with attending school and are so eager to advance their social and academic skills. May students are friendly and love getting to know one another. I am grateful I get to spend their year with them.
My Project
Help me expand the knowledge to implement what today's children need! Can you image a place where students of all ages come to one central location to create, tinker, invent, make, share, and actively learn through their own experiences? I can! I want to have the latest technology and resources to be able to implement exciting and innovating lessons. Today, students call for classrooms were teachers foster a maker mindset. Where students are allowed to rely on hands on, often collaborative learning experiences as a way to solve authentic problems. Problems that are meaningful for each individual student.
Coding for All is an essential skill teachers need to prepare students for the jobs of the future.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics, by the next year there will be 1.4 million jobs requiring computer science expertise but only 400,000 computer science graduates with the necessary skills.
All children should have the ability to create, tinker, invent, make, and actively learn in a safe empowering, thriving learning environment. A place where students create something amazing out of nothing! A place where we celebrate failure! A place where students are learning by doing. A place to inspire students! A place to amplify their learning with technology and challenge them to be agents of their own learning. A place that eventually turns into a mindset.
I believe this is possible! Please help me learn about how to create this kind of place for my students. Help me give my students access into computer science and maker education spaces.
