Help me give my students Coding Critters so they can start learning to code in 2nd grade with fun robots. I have requested 2 of each style for a total of six robots, enough for a small group!
Second graders are curious, adventurous, and ready to learn new things. I have introduced them to some computer coding games this year and they took to it instantly. They are enjoying coding through games and would love the opportunity to expand their coding skills with some hands on learning.
I have sat with them as they think through the puzzle of putting together simple computer coding steps so they can watch graphics move across the screen, and I can just imagine the inspiration that will ensue as they see their small robots move at their coding command!
My Project
Coding will be an important tool in a student's belt when they begin looking for work and there is no better time to start than now! My second graders will have a chance to begin their coding journey with fun robots made specifically for students their age.
Small groups of students will learn the basics of coding and watch as their robots obey their commands!
They will continue to explore and experiment with the world of coding during daily coding activities.
We will do classroom read-alouds to spark interest in coding and share what we are learning. Whole group and small group instruction will also be provided to guide students in their learning.
Students will understand that there are many jobs available in the coding industry and that it is a great opportunity for them! They will know that they are capable of coding and that it can be fun!
