Coding and Collaboration With Lego Mindstorms Ev3
My students need Lego Mindstorms Ev3 kits to help them learn to code and hopefully work their way into competitions.
Students in our school are the best. They are inquisitive and curious. They love to explore and ask questions. They are very diverse, with students from many different countries and backgrounds. Our school has nearly 50% of students on free and reduced lunch, which is one of the highest in the district, but in the last two years they had the greatest growth and highest scores on standardized tests in the district.
These kids are going places and need more to challenge them and push them forward!
Within our class schedule in our middle school, we have a unique block of time called WIN, which stands for Whatever I Need. Students are sorted based on their educational requirements.
The science teachers run an exciting, engaging class that takes students beyond the regular classroom activities.
Other activities that we run include K'Nex roller coasters and experimental design, as well as criminal forensics by solving a murder mystery. By adding Lego Mindstorms to our curriculum, we can focus on coding and additional technological skills. The ultimate plan is to begin a club within the school that can compete in the Lego Mindstorms leagues.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
