My students need robotic kits to explore coding, practice engineering principles, and in the future, compete against other teams in future robotics club competitions.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students come from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are a Title I school but have maintained high standards in our teaching practice to receive an A/B rating for the past 5 years and be recognized as an A+ school! Our students will be exploring STEAM topics focusing on coding, engineering & robotics, and love to use technology to create and explore but lack the exposure to the technology to create and share what they've learned. We have a majority of staff and students well-trained in Kagan Engagement Structures and strive for innovation, collaboration, and creativity.
My Project
By using Lego's WEDO, Botley Robots, and Micro:bit modules my students will practice engineering skills learned in class, code their machines to solve various tasks and problems they discovered and work on collaboration and communications skills needed for the workplace.
They will be very engaged, motivated and thrill to be using these hands-on kits and work on the skills that real engineers, designers, and computer programmers use.
We will also use Lego's WEDO, Botley Robots, and Micro:bit modules to prepare our students for any competition within our district or region. It will be important to have my students as prepared as possible so they can meet the rigors of the games.
