My Students

The first grade students in our class are inquisitive, enthusiastic, and active learners. They are future mathematicians, scientists, engineers, writers, and artists. Computer Science is the future and will be integrated in all of these career paths. These students have already begun their journey of becoming their best selves.

These first graders are a diverse group of learners and each has their own way of learning.

They are respectful and tolerant of each other's differences. They make me proud because of their compassion.

My Project

All of the students in our class, want to code our Dash and Dot. Our class has only 2 iPads and we need one more. This would allow more students the opportunity to code comfortably in our classroom. It is also an engaging and fun way for the students to reinforce their math skills.

The mathematicians have been programing Dash and Dot to bowl.

The first graders set up 10 plastic pins and code Dash and Dot to knock down the pins. This reinforces subtraction facts to 10.

Learning the subtraction facts while bowling with Dash and Dot sure is more fun than flash cards!
