This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The best thing about my class is that there isn't a typical day. EAST (Environmental and Spatial Technology) is a project-based class that gives students the opportunity to explore something that interests them, helps the community, and uses cutting edge technology while making a difference.

One thing our EAST Program does is support numerous programs in our school, as we are at Title I school and resources can be tight.

All the resources and materials are used by students as they work to make our community a better place.

My Project

This tablet will let my students learn how to code apps for Android devices using programs such as MIT App Inventor and other resources.

Through planning apps with a purpose to overseeing their creation, students will gain a wide range of skills related to STEM.

Students will also develop soft-skills in working in a team and planning a project from start to finish.

Currently students are relying on an emulator and this would allow them to see their work play out on a real device. The apps they are working on range from an app for a museum to one for a student with special needs.
