No student should feel unsafe in their classroom. Our campus is a very open campus that has a friendly, neighborhood atmosphere where parents and other visitors always feel welcomed on campus throughout the day. However, that openness does leave us feeling vulnerable.
My school serves just over 1,000 general education, special education, autistic, and Gifted students and 38% come from low-income households.
Our teachers and administrators work hard to provide both a safe and loving environment that addresses all the needs of our students. What we need now is a way to protect our students in case of a Code Red Lockdown Emergency.
While there are a variety of opinions today regarding ways that teachers can keep children safe, I feel that having an unbreachable door would be a good first step.
By providing Barracuda Intruder Defense Systems, we feel we can better protect what is most valuable inside our classrooms - our children.
The elementary school I teach at has an open campus with many outlying buildings including but not limited to portables, a kindergarten pod and a two-story wing with individual outside exiting doors for each classroom.
Your generous donation could protect innocent children should a Code Red Emergency Lockdown go from a drill to a reality.
