My Students

My desire is for my students to develop a love of science and to understand how every aspect of their life can be traced back to science. In our classroom, I seek to tie all disciplines together. The fulfillment of this project will combine reading, writing, science, history, and oral discussion.

I teach science to 8th grade students.

At this point in their lives, many students have lost interest in science and in school. But there is still hope! By providing exciting, relevant, and rigorous learning experiences, I have the opportunity to impact these students' life decisions.

My Project

These Code Orange novels will be used for many years! Students will have individual copies to read and use as a building block for many activities. The novel will be used to support literacy and discussion in the classroom. It will also be an exciting starting point to begin our unit on infectious diseases. After reading about smallpox in this novel, they will conduct group research projects about other infectious diseases that have impacted human life.

Donations to this project will provide students with an exciting novel that will interest them in reading and science.

Many students have lost an interest in both subjects by the time they reach eighth grade. I see this project as helping to reignite that fire and curiosity they felt as children for learning! Thank you for considering a donation to this project!
