Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Title I elementary school is located in Brooklyn's Sunset Park. We're a beautiful mix of many cultures and people and our school reflects a rich and diverse group of children. All our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Our classes include General Education, Special Needs, and English Language Learners.
As the Computer Science teacher, I am challenged to bring the 21st Century to my students.
Many have not used technology and I want to include more to help reach so many of my students. I love teaching computer science because I see how technology empowers children to learn and achieve.
My Project
Technology is a powerful hook for all my students, regardless of their backgrounds and learning styles. With the right technology tools I can differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of each child and help them, not only, learn, but see the value of what they are learning for a future career.
I'm requesting four Wonder Workshop Dash Robots which will be used for Computer Science and STEM hands-on coding.
Coding is an amazing way for children to develop logical thinking skills as they work in collaborative teams to make their robot "work". Having four robots will ensure that more children have hands-on time and I can have more workgroups per class.
These robots are very visual and the children love to learn coding to make them do all sorts of cool things. With your help we can give my students learning that will change their lives.
