Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to our bilingual kindergarten classroom! This is a class with high expectations and high interest but, unfortunately, we come in with some hindering factors. Our school is a Title I school in New Jersey. In our district we currently have 51 home languages! We are little learners who are either first generation or port of entry students.
We are a bunch of kindergartners who are eager to learn!
Each day we come in ready to try our best. We love to learn and love showing it to everyone who walks through our door.
My Project
Welcome to the new Kindergarten! Yes, we still play but we are reading, writing and STEM-ing while we play. These Ozobots will help us learn how to code. Our minds are sponges at this age and we are encouraged to think outside the box. Why not add coding into our bag of tricks while we are learning how to read and write. The Ozobots are a fun and engaging way to learn coding at this age.
Students will learn social emotional skills by working in groups to move their Ozobot.
This is a key and important skill to master in this world. Along with STEM learning goals, students will also gain a sense of accomplishment when they see their bot complete goals set for them. Not only will my Kinders use these bots, I will open the opportunity of coding to my afterschool program class for 3rd-5th graders.
