My Students
My school is a Title I school serving 652 students. Over half of my class receives free or reduced-priced meals. My class is comprised of 9 females and 6 males. The population includes White and African American children ages 5-7. I have a wide variety of achievement levels in my classroom. Some of the children can read ALL 62 of the High Frequency Words and some of the children are not able to name all of the letters of the alphabet. The learning stations that we work in each day enable me to meet the needs of ALL of my students. The staff at my school is dedicated to providing an innovative, standards-based curriculum that promotes social and academic growth. We are proud of the various awards and recognition that include STEM Certified, National Blue Ribbon, Red Carpet Schools, Palmetto Gold, Reading Renaissance and Honor Roll School, to name a few.
My Project
My kindergarten class is learning about coding in the classroom as well as in the technology lab. They are beginning to understand the importance of being able to code for the future.
Having a Code & Go Robot Mouse and activity set in the classroom, so that the students can have more time to practice coding, is beneficial.
They will gain confidence as well as lots of experience.
My goal is for each child to have the ability to code in order to secure a job in the future as well as expose them to this technology driven world in which we live. Finally, manipulating a mouse is great fun!
