Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a high school that is home to a community of teachers, parents, and students committed to partnership. We are a small public charter school in California that welcomes anyone with a passion for learning, especially those needing extra supports and accommodations. Our students are some of the best and brightest! At our school we mainly use an online platform for curriculum and instruction, which means that most school work is digitally integrated and students are utilizing 21st century skills every day to collaborate and learn through project-based work.
My Project
The English department of our high school is looking to offer more book choices for students by setting up the "Coastal Book Nook". This will be a mini library in the English wing where students can check out books for leisure reading. We would like to have a variety of genres with a mix of fiction and nonfiction books, even picture, reference, or text books. We love to encourage reading for fun and realize that many students may not have the same access to the vast world of literature, so we hope that by offering this "book nook" more students will be able to discover life-changing stories.
