Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a group of wonderful students. Almost all of them are severely underprivileged and have very few after school activities to attend. My hopes are one day, after Covid regulations relax a bit, to have an after-school workout club where children can find their love for exercise while learning how to exercise properly and safely. I have floated the idea by many of them and they have been so excited to begin. Others have been hesitant about exercise but when they see how much fun it can be, they are so eager for more. These materials will help us be ready for an after-school exercise club whenever we are given the go-ahead to proceed. Some of the materials will help in organizing my room, allowing for a safer space for exercise, while other materials allow students to see their abilities improve. My students get motivated when they see weights that look heavy, but they are able to lift them. Thank you so much in advance.
