The children in my classroom are amazing and never cease to amaze me. Spectrum works largely with students with autism and we pride ourselves in the success our school brings them. Our classroom is filled with big smiles, lots of reading, creative writing assignments and engaging math activities. Because of the unique environment, many students have various sensory needs and learning motivators. It is my goal to provide greater organization in our art area as well as within our literacy and spelling lessons . We always enjoy a variety of reinforcers that encourage children to give their best effort. Thank you for donating to this project!
My Project
Our classroom currently lacks the organization needed to run a smoother and clutter free day. Students participate in Sonday and Rooted in Reading lessons daily. Currently the items needed for these lessons are in various places throughout the room from mishap containers on a bookshelf, glue sticks rolling on the floor and notebooks placed on the teacher's tables. This is distracting and time consuming. Children are spending unnecessary time finding tools such as dry erase boards and markers, their literacy note books and art supplies. The children feel more secure when things in our their proper place. The items requested will allow for art supplies, and fluency and spelling tools to have a proper place. This greater organization will reduce unnecessary stress that students often feel when items are difficult to find.
We promote mindfulness and positive thought daily.
It is so important that the students feel valued, gain social understanding and acceptance of others. Each morning we participate in lessons on this life changing skills from diversity, recognizing emotions and classroom manners. The mindfulness tools allow us to have proper lessons, activities and resources needed to continue these important skills within our classroom.
Lastly, we are always on the lookout for motivators that encourage best effort in learning.
