Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students range from age four to five years old and attend a low-income public school. My classroom is ethnically diverse, and a majority are dual language speakers. I have two half day classes each with 20 students who are all extremely kind, driven, smart and eager to learn!
Our classroom would benefit from receiving resources that foster educational development because it will allow them to level out the playing field with other schools to ensure a successful educational future!
My Project
iStation testing is a required online testing program that is administered via iPads. This test starts in Kindergarten and continues through 6th grade. We are finding that most students who are entering Kindergarten have never had access to iPads before.
This is creating a large gap for our students, because while they are being tested to see their progress, they're also trying to figure out how to use the new technology.
This gap is having a tremendously negative impact on the students test results.
I am asking for iPads and cases for my students to help close the technology gap starting in PreK. The iPads and protective cases will allow my students to become familiar with the technology and prepare them for the future.
