My students are curious and eager learners! I work with 30+ students in grades K-5 in small group settings. All groups meet with me each day to receive reading interventions and additional support to continue developing their reading skills. K-2 students work on letter sounds, phonics, word building, decoding skills, and fluency. Students in grades 3-5 work on decoding skills, reading with fluency, and comprehension activities.
Our learning environment is a safe and close-knit space, where students are comfortable to take risks in their learning and encourage each other to succeed.
They love getting additional books in their hands to read at home and take pride in their reading growth.
My Project
My K-5 students come to small group reading each day, excited to read books from our Literacy Footprints intervention series. There are dictated writing activities and story prompts for the younger students and comprehension writing activities for older students to complete.
"Is today a writing day" - this is one of the first questions my kindergarten and first grade students ask when they sit at my table.
My students are eager learners and they love writing about the stories they have read and practicing new sight words they have learned.
