This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is an ALL- Girls school located in the heart of the city of Atlanta. We service girls in grades 6-12. We are very unique in that we are the FIRST All-Girls school in an Urban area seeking STEM certification. The girls at this school come from different walks of life. We are considered a Title I Schools (90% or more students receive free or reduced lunch) who is striving to provide students in a high poverty area a greater educational experience.
We strive to empower each girl with leadership skills that would make a difference in their community and the global society.
We encourage sisterhood and are ever evolving to change the outcomes for our students. Our girls will be tomorrow's leaders.
My Project
Most of my students struggle academically. They have significant skill gaps. Many of my 9th Grade students struggle with basic concepts in math such as (digit fluency and computational fluency). The math team has been working to improve the outcomes for these students, in an attempt to address the skill gaps, I have created individual intervention plans for each student. I will use a computer program IXL to provide math instruction to students to close the skill gaps based on their individual needs. These laptops provide my students with access to technology in the class to work on the skills they are deficient in.
