Help me give my students a horseshoe table so that our small group has plenty of room for independent and partner work and students are within arm's reach of the teacher.
Many students at my school come from literacy impoverished backgrounds. We are a high-poverty, Title I school and 35% of our students receive English language learner support. In addition, 95% of the student population qualifies for free or reduced rate lunch. For that reason, we also offer breakfast and a fresh fruit or vegetable snack to every student.
Expanding and learning reading and math skills, number sense, vocabulary, oral language acquisition, and building background knowledge through hands-on experiences and books are ways the struggling learners are engaged in learning in my classroom.
Students in my groups are at or below the twentieth percentile. These struggling learners are provided with interventions at increasing levels of intensity to accelerate their rate of learning and help them feel and become more successful learners in their classrooms.
My Project
The Neoclass Horseshoe table shape supports collaborative learning yet provides plenty of room for materials and enough space for separation while conferencing with students.
The horseshoe-shaped table design will also support the turn and talk strategy, partner work, and discussion during reading groups as well as allow me to physically be within reach of each student while they are completing word work such as task cards or using a spelling practice page.
The horseshoe-shaped design is perfect for small group collaborative learning. The deep center 'pocket' provides opportunities for better student-teacher interaction. The blue color is best used for learning situations which are challenging and in general blue is a relaxing and calming color
