"Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand." I fully believe in this quote and strive to be a teacher who involves my students in their learning on a daily basis. The use of flexible seating and assignment choice in the classroom empowers my students to be stakeholders in their education.
My students are highly-motivated, highly-engaged learners.
I have a room full of bright and fun kids. Differentiating the classroom environment and classroom assignments provides them with every opportunity to be successful. It also provides students with sense of ownership in their learning.
My Project
Science is meant to be experienced, not simply taught. My students love science time! This is a time when students can engage fully in the content and create. The materials I am requesting will continue to foster that love of STEM education in my students. The look of wonder and excitement in their faces when we complete design projects is something I hope every child experiences in school.
By the time our students reach 6th grade, they have made a conscious decision whether or not they will be “good” at math and science.
This places a tremendous responsibility in the hands of elementary school teachers. It is my job to engage my fourth grades in math and science now, so that they will continue to stay in the STEM Pipeline throughout their school careers. Engineering materials will help me in this mission!
