My Students
My students live and attend school in a rural Ohio town.
Our community is small, but it has always been very supportive of the students and our school.
One of our goals, as educators, is to provide students with effective learning environments that will help facilitate student growth in all academic areas.
The students are always eager to work on projects, especially those that involve technology. Providing activities that are different than what might be expected in a general classroom is a goal of mine.
My Project
The digital books will be used to help students with their close reading skills. Close reading is an essential skill for students to be able to analyze and comprehend both fiction and informational texts.
The digital books are interactive.
Students are able to highlight, underline, have text read aloud, use the included dictionary, and annotate the text with their thoughts and questions. Students are also able to answer questions inserted by the teacher. Additionally, the data from these activities will allow the teacher to modify instruction as needed.
Being able to digitally analyze texts will help students with skills such as citing textual evidence, interpreting figurative language, and identifying the author's purpse. This will help students understand what they read in a deeper and more meaningful manner.
