My students need supplies to use in hands-on life science activites, like the Classroom Owl Pellet Study Set, and review materials, like the 6 Hot Dots pens, to use independently to reinforce concepts they are learning.
With your support students, can have a close encounter of the science kind in my classroom. The use of these hands-on materials will allow the students to develop a deeper understanding of the concepts.
.
My 5th grade students attend a small rural school in Arkansas.
They will be better prepared to do science in the upper grades if they are more motivated to learn the basic concepts now. The hands-on lessons are the best way to engage them and have learning experiences that they retain the knowledge for years to come.
My Project
Your support will allow me to show my students the concepts first hand. Having elodea plants to use in a cellular respiration experiment will allow the student to see the process happening in real time. The sedimentation tubes will allow my students to learn about the concepts of soil composition, formation and sedimentation. Dissecting owl pellets will provide students with the opportunity to explore food chains as they study ecosystems and learn about predator prey relationships. I can keep my class on task and utilize every minute of instructional time with the sets of Hot Dots cards, which allow students to independently complete questions and self-check in all areas of the science curriculum.
When students are more engaged and motivated to learn achievement increases.
Along with the science concepts that are mastered students experience a sense of accomplishment. These hands-on activities foster their ability to problem solve and work in groups, skills they will use for a lifetime.
