My students need materials to keep them healthy throughout the school year including blankets, pull-ups, drinks that meet their dietary restrictions and a trash can with a lid to dispose these items inside.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a Title I school with ninety-nine percent of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. I am a teacher of students with autism who are amazing! Each is only three or four years old, but is brilliant in his or her own right. Some are very vocal and receive time in the general education classroom.
One has gone from saying three words at the beginning of last school year to speaking in complete sentences.
Others are learning to use the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to express their needs. I love the way my students work together in play center. I am proud of the way they have welcomed new students into our class!
My Project
This school year, our school district is committed to improving student attendance in order to improve student learning outcomes. Students' health is a key factor impacting their school attendance.
My students need materials such as pull-ups, blankets and a new trash can to keep them strong and healthy.
Many of my students are not potty trained when they enter my classroom. They wear pull-ups during the toilet training process to help them transition from diapers to underwear. I am requesting blankets to keep my students warm and comfortable during nap time. Additionally, I am requesting bottled water and juice to serve to my student who is lactose-intolerant. A lidded trash can with a step will minimize the spread of germs as we dispose of items.
