Ms. Gordon from Cheraw SC is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a class set of the novel Double Identity to study the author's craft.

My students are a unique blend of varying educational and socio-economical levels. This eccentric bunch are always willing to try something new, and show off their idiosyncrasies. These seventh grade students have described the classroom as a place that feels like family. The have said," when they walk into the room it is like going home. "
These energetic students come in wild eyed and ready to learn.
This witty bunch will amaze a reluctant observer exhibiting their energetic love of learning.
My students are always eager to talk about themselves, family traditions, and share family stories. During the year my students will study hereditary, genetics, and variations of genetic traits. Students will read Double Identity by Maragret Haddix. The main character, Bethany learns that she is the clone of her deceased sister Elizabeth.
Students will pattern their writing after the author's; creating a science fiction story about discovering a clone of themselves.
Students will write a rationale for why they were cloned. The students will determine if clone will interact with them or live in a parallel universe. They will include internal and external conflicts where they compare their lives', clone's and the main character of the novel.
Our library only has one copy of the book. In the past I have read aloud the book to students. My students are visual and auditory learners. They need to be able to see, and appreciate the author's text. If students were able to have a copy to read from they would be able to read, and reread the novel to continue to discover the layers of the author's craft.
