Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergartners have rigorous, high expectations to fill this upcoming school year! They need to leave my classroom as skilled readers, writers, and mathematicians to be ready for the first grade. But help! We're lacking the basic supplies we need to reach our learning goals this year!

I am lucky enough to teach 25 brilliant and deserving kindergarten students!

They inspire me each day with their enthusiasm to learn and their determination to persevere both inside and outside of the classroom. The majority of my students are English Language Learners and low income. I am constantly amazed by their curiosity, and each day they teach ME something new. My students deserve nothing short of the best start to their education, and I am determined to give them just that! I am also lucky to work at a school whose teachers and administrators are just as committed to offering each student the best possible chance at succeeding. I am blessed to work with a staff that believes in each student, and the limitless potential they each possess, just as much as I do.

My Project

My students are lacking the individual supplies they need to participate in our whole group lessons during our time on the carpet and small group activities away from their desks. As young learners, my students often get fidgety and easily distracted while working at their tables. They are more engaged and a part of the learning process when they are able to sit within close proximity of me on the carpet or when they work in small groups throughout the classroom. The clipboards and whiteboards will allow each individual student to get away from their tables so that they are able to actively participate and engage in learning within different areas of the classroom. The timer requested will help us stay on track and consistent with the time allotted during each center and activity. Finally, the pencil sharpener will help us stay sharp as a class and keep us always prepared for the learning ahead with the materials we need!

This project will help supply my students with the tools they need to succeed this school year.

The tools requested are intended to help each student actively participate in the lessons and take ownership over their learning environment. They are already so capable, but I know that with the supplies requested I will be able to create more rigorous tasks that will help students not only reach their learning goals for this school year, but prepare for success as first graders too!
