My students need a laptop computer, so that we may successfully use technology, such as a projector and document camera, in our classroom to enhance our learning!
Many Americans are fortunate to have the "world at their fingertips." We use the internet and various programs to do everyday activities, research and learn. My classroom is not as fortunate. With a new laptop computer, my students will be able to grow from more learning opportunities.
We are a second grade class in one of NH's largest cities.
I am always so lucky to have a wonderful group of 20 fun-loving students each school year. I also help teach science and test taking skills to the other second grade classes (so these resources may benefit up to 80 students, wow!). My students help to promote the "Team Lemire" attitude where we work together to all achieve success. Whether it is buddy reading around the room, having rotating math game centers or studying the writing of various authors, we are always engaged! Each and every one has enthusiasm, curiosity and the work ethic to help nurture their education. When they receive this laptop, I am positive their skills will soar to the next level!
My Project
This past spring, I was awarded a projector for my class. This will give me the opportunity to show educational video clips, build prior knowledge and review material with my class. It will also give us all the opportunity to incorporate engaging activities into our routine. For example, how great would it be to Skype with our pen pals? Or, to build a slide show on PowerPoint about the latest Language Arts unit that we studied? The laptop I am requesting will make these experiences possible!
This laptop would also allow for students to "publish" their stories, read our textbooks online, watch videos and incorporate appropriate games to practice skills as a class!
In the year 2012, this type of technology is more of a necessity rather that a luxury and I would love to bring every tool available to their fingertips!
This donation will help give students the opportunity to use technology to not only prepare for third grade, but to prepare for middle school, high school and beyond.
Using this laptop will allow students to research projects and practice skills in a fun and engaging way. Thank you for your support.
