My Students

I serve students aged 3-6 years old in their beginning stages of the education environment. My classroom serves students with autism spectrum disorder who need a little more assistance than a "regular" special education classroom.

Each and every one of my students are​ special and amazing!

I strive to do everything I can to help and support them and each of their needs. My classroom may not be the typical type of classroom you'd expect, but we engage the students to help each child grow and learn to love school. We are building the foundation to not only help students academically, but I personally strive to help with being able to self-regulate and learn important social skills.

My Project

All young kids deserve the ability to play and explore their environment! This includes engaging in safe sensory play (that can be easily disinfected and cleaned!) both to learn and to self-regulate.

Working with young children with special needs already requires engaging materials.

Throwing in that most of my students haven't really left parents before they came to school because of COVID-19, they struggle even more with social-emotional learning and self-regulation.

This project will allow me to have materials such as the mats in our sensory room that can be easily disinfected. When kids are having a rough day, they can calm down in the sensory room with the toddler safe sensory materials to put in our sensory table. The alphabet tubs can be an interactive game to use either in person or online to interact with students. Various toys such as the Little People toys will allow us to work on social skills for those that haven't been able to practice with others during the pandemic.
