I teach at a Title I school in Virginia, but my students never let this count them out! One hundred percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. They face hardships that they encounter at home. Many are from broken homes where there is only one parent, severe family illnesses or their siblings/guardians are their caretakers.
Though many struggle with school in general, I can always see their desire to learn new things.
The excitement in their eyes when they show mastery of the content is so inspiring! With a lot of time and effort, I am looking forward to taking my students to the next level in preparation for fourth grade.
In a perfect world, we would have 1:1 devices in each classroom. It is not a perfect world! Having eight Chromebooks in my classroom will create a technology-rich environment, allowing my scholars to unlock their full potential!
In the digital age, children rely on technology!
I know that having devices in the classroom will help to aid in research, work on typing goals, teach useful life and career skills, and positively reinforce my scholars for being on task and working hard! There are countless programs that help in the learning of 3rd graders, and we can not use these programs without devices! This will help my classroom get one step closer to having a paperless environment where devices are constantly available and scholars have resources they can use at their fingertips.
