Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is set in the middle of an urban area in a district that services over 11,000 students. Our school has over 500 students, with more than 95% receiving free and reduced lunch.

Our students need continuous engagement!

Being in 2018, most districts are one-on-one technology and our district is far from that! Most of our students do not even have internet or a computer at home.

My students are well behaved, curious, eager young children. They rely on their teachers to provide consistency, kindness, support and knowledge about life and academics. As stated in our school motto, Possibilities, not problems!

My Project

Having 3 more laptops in our classroom, will help students move forward in the 21st century and gain experiences in their education that they may otherwise not be able to experience. The laptops will aid my Mathematics classroom, where they can utilize the curriculum online, gain access to intervention games and skills as well as become familiar with PARCC practice. Having this technology in my classroom will ultimately keep students engaged and focused. This will hopefully give them an advantage which will in turn produce higher academic scores and overall student achievement. This will help prepare all of my students for the 21st century to become college and career ready!
