My Students

Do you remember celebrating as you saw that first A on a test or a better score than the last time? Clickers (Mimio Vote) provide immediate feedback to students as they answer questions and keep all students involved in problem solving and discussions.

Seventy-five percent of my students are non-Caucasian students.

Many of the students in my class are also from low socioeconomic backgrounds. These students love coming to school and interacting with technology. Many of them do not have access to the Internet or a computer at home. Some of them have family members with smart phones and are so excited when they get to use that same technology to learn. My students are so thrilled when they learn something new and can't wait to go home and teach a younger sibling or show their previous teachers how far they have come.

My Project

The Mimio Vote system will allow my students to work as individuals or groups to solve problems, create personal data for problem solving, and complete assessments within our classroom. This technology also provides immediate data for self-reflection, the most effective strategy for learning according to research compiled by John Hattie (2009). An additional iPod touch will help extend the amount of touches available to my students allowing for more individualized instruction.

The students in my class have a very limited chance to interact with the technology of the times.

The interaction, use, and understanding of technology is necessary for today's students to be 21st century literate students.
