My students are friendly, bright, very hardworking and are constantly striving for success, regardless of the non-educational factors that influences their day-to-day lives. Over 60% of my students have free and reduced-price lunch. Each day they come to class ready to learn and ready to grow.
I always make sure to take time to address their social and emotional needs everyday.
Without this step, we cannot achieve the academic success we strive for. They understand that success is a journey, which takes time, effort, and hard-work.
My Project
Roughly 60% of my students come from homes where a good, nutritious meal is not guaranteed.
I want to make sure that my students are able to focus on their learning and not on being hungry.
My students come from many diverse backgrounds and providing for their basic needs is one of my top priorities. It also let's them know that they are cared for and are a valuable addition to our classroom. Although a good majority of my students come from families of very modest means, I believe everyone should have access to high-quality food and should not feel uncomfortable or hungry at school. I am asking for three different kinds of snacks including granola bars and cookies.
