My Students
Do you remember the excitement you felt the first time you picked up a beloved book and could truly read the words on the page in front of you? Think back to how proud you were and how quickly you wanted to share that story with every other person in your world. My students share in that feeling of accomplishment and engagement in their reading and writing.
My students are inquisitive, ambitious, engaged learners who ask thoughtful questions and talk about the things they have been learning throughout the whole day!
In my first grade classroom, it is my intention to foster a love of learning and love of literacy for all of my students by offering opportunities for engagement, collaboration, and deeper thinking.
First graders in my classroom are compassionate young people who constantly want to learn together. Reading, writing, and math expectations are best supported by strong interactions with high quality materials.
My Project
The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, and is only going to increase in use as we move to a new phonics program that relies heavily on students' use of whiteboards. Whiteboards allow me to see exactly what children are doing when they sound out words to spell, write sentences, engage in math lessons, and more. They provide enough space for children to show their work, and the flexibility to quickly move through lessons and make changes as needed.
Whiteboard storage is a problem because we need enough space to store boards, markers, and erasers, as well as a system to quickly pass out and clean up materials.
These Lakeshore Lapboard Storage Centers will allow a space for all materials to be stored and are convenient enough to move around the classroom easily as needed. Mini Whiteboards and erasers will provide opportunity for partners and small groups to engage in learning together.
