My Students

The students from my school live in one of the poorest Congressional Districts in the country. Many of our students are English language learners who live day-to-day and view coming to this public school as a way to escape their home lives. We try our best to provide students with access to after school programs and technology, but with major budget cuts, we can no longer afford to fund student-centered projects. It has become increasingly difficult to offer services to our English Language Learners as well as our large population of students with Special Needs.

My Project

This is a two part project. We are asking for snacks in addition to cleaning products for our classroom.

It is very difficult for students to learn and stay focused in a dirty environment and when they are hungry.

Hunger is always an issue in my school but cleanliness has also become a huge problem. We are in flu season and it seems as if every one is sick. With the recent outbreak of the coronavirus, we do not want to take any chances with germs and that is why I am asking for cleaning supplies. It seems like our custodial staff is having a hard time keeping up with their daily cleaning and we cannot leave anything to chance.
