My students are my responsibility to teach, mentor, and keep safe. I love that they are eager and willing to come to school in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are all in uncharted waters and concerned about our safety, we know education must continue.
This is a year like no other year.
My students are to begin class on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. It is a year filled with uncertainty and chaos. I look forward to seeing their smiling faces and to see how determined they are to get back to learning. I also look forward to getting to know their diverse personalities.
Our school is located in a rural area of Alabama. We have a high percentage of free and reduced lunch recipients. Many of the families in our community have struggled with difficult situations. However, at school, these students work to learn no matter what is occurring outside of school. It fills my heart with joy to see my students strive to reach goals that I set for them in and out of school, and I look forward to working with a new group of students soon.
My Project
The air purifier unit will help my students by providing a safer, cleaner air environment. Our class will be self-contained in a room that's 784 square feet for the majority of the school day to include breakfast and lunch periods. Students will feel safer knowing they are more protected from viruses and germs because the air quality will be much improved. During this Covid-19 pandemic, my students and parents need to know that I am providing them with the safest environment possible. I truly feel when my students feel safe, they are better able to concentrate and more at ease with learning.
This pandemic has sparked much fear for students, parents, and school staff.
It is our job to protect and educate. An air purifier is one thing I can add to the classroom to help protect us all from a greater chance of illness. I truly appreciate your generosity for consideration of this project to help protect the health of an entire classroom of students. Thank you.
