My Students

My students are incredible humans. Although many of them face adversity in their own homes, the majority of them make it to school each day. When my students arrive, often times they are happy, but there are other times when they arrive in a bad mood because they do not have access to the materials that all students need.

Many families see everyday items as a luxury, and I am striving to make sure that all my students have access to the things I, and many other individuals, take for granted.

My Project

We all know that when a student's basic needs are not met, then learning does not even begin to happen. I have students who do not own any underwear, their family has larger financial concerns than spending money on underwear, they are sharing a couple pairs with their siblings, and so on.

Underwear is a simple item that you and I put on our bodies every day--underwear helps our skin, provides warmth, and allows students to feel safe and comfortable in class.

I have many students who go without or wear soiled undergarments. As the weather gets colder, it becomes more and more of a pressing issue to keep my students warm and comfortable.

Anything that can be contributed helps so much! Thank you for taking the time to look at my project for my students.
