Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a rural town in New Mexico. I currently have twenty-five students and teach the English component of the DL program. Eighty percent are Hispanic, three percent are African American and seventeen percent are White.
I have twelve girls and thirteen boys.
My school serves low-income, high-poverty students. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many families are migrant families with little to no resources. Students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many students live with grandparents or in single-parent homes.
Our community does not provide bookmobiles and the nearest public library is thirty miles away; therefore, providing students with books to keep at home is crucial and instrumental for success. My goal is to provide my students with a rich classroom experience to help them get a taste of the outside world.
Preparing our students for the future is crucial. During uncertain times like today, we need to secure the future for our students. Underprivileged students deserve a great education and equality for all children no matter their race or socioeconomic status.
My Project
Please help my studens with antibacterial hand soap to maintaing good habits in the classroom. Washing our hands to stay safe is important, especially after returning from other areas such as exercising outdoors. The wipes will ensure that we wipe our counters and keep them germ free and clean. The laminating pouches will be used to laminate our work stations so that students know where their supplies are kept. The windex wipes will be used to wipe down our sink and screens. The planner will be used to keep track of our daily excercising activities and the bag will be used to carry our electronics and planner. These items are used in the classroom on a daily basis to maintain germ free environment. We are working out and excercising daily and we need to keep good hygiene and sanitation.
