Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an inclusion classroom, in a low income area. I have a co-teacher (Ms. Germain) and we have a really great group of students. Their first experience with school was virtual learning. We are so grateful to be back in person and our goal is to stay in person, and keep our space safe. As they get more and more used to in person learning, we are seeing these young people grow every day- academically and emotionally. We love their tenacity and perseverance. Ms. Germain's favorite saying is "shine your light and walk in confidence." They inspire us and shine their lights every day. Each one of our 14 students has a different personality & I love seeing all of them embrace each other and themselves for who they are.

We show up daily, we smile, and we work together to make our school days fun, engaging, and full of learning!

My Project

Our schools are underfunded in a typical, but it is feeling extra rough this year. We are in constant need of more cleaning supplies. Our room is cleaned by us several times throughout the day in order to keep our students safe. On top of that, we have the students change their masks whenever they sneeze or cough, or if they get their breakfast/lunch on them.

My co-teacher, instructional assistant, and myself have been able to give the students some supplies this year, however most students are out of most supplies.

We are fortunate enough to be in person with our students this year. With your help, we can continue to color pictures together, stay clean and safe, and keep our bellies and brains focused on learning.
