My Students

I teach a class of 22 amazing kindergarteners who are eager to learn and deserve endless resources, experiences, and opportunities. They come from different backgrounds, have a wealth of experiences, and have a lot to contribute to our diverse learning community. They are eager for knowledge and engaging opportunities to learn.

I have a very diverse population at my school and in my classroom, with at least 50% learning English as their second language.

I teach at one of the most diverse schools in the nation!

The children delight in activities that engage their minds and bodies, and they look forward to what each day of the exciting kindergarten world brings them! It is my job to inspire and motivate them in a variety of ways which reach the whole child. Many students come with challenges including ADD, ADHD, and autism, and it is my job to reach, teach, inspire, and love them all!

My Project

Organization, cleanliness, and developing efficient systems are all critical features of a structured classroom that benefits students, especially my students with autism, ADD, or ADHD. They thrive in learning environments that provide them with structure, routines, and systems making their days not only a well-oiled machine, but also providing them with an environment that is not overstimulating, organized, clean, and safe.

They are less likely to be anxious, stressed, and overwhelmed in a room that is clean, organized, and has a place and system for everything.

They are likely to stay organized themselves and show more productivity due to such great organization.

The 30 cubby storage unit will help me create an environment in which the students and I can maintain cleanliness, organization, and thus, productivity. I will utilize the shelves for classroom and art supplies, such as colored pencils, paper, scissors, markers, crayons, paint, craft materials, and so much more. I will also have tissues, hand sanitizer, dusters, dust pans, bleach-free wipes, band-aids, magic erasers, mini-spray bottles, and more in some of the cubbies to house our cleaning supplies, making them readily available for the children to keep our classroom tidy, germ-free, and healthy. This will give them ownership and great pride and a sense of belonging in our team built clean, healthy classroom.

An organized classroom is a successful classroom for all! I can't wait to get started on it with these essential materials and a great shelf to start our systems!
