Each semester, I teach 150 students (300 students yearly). 7th grade students take a semester-long course on Web Design that focuses on HTML formatting and editing images in Photoshop. 8th grade students take a semester-long course on Digital Animation in which they learn about programming concepts as well as editing images in Photoshop and digital animation in Adobe Flash.
My Students are highly motivated to create using the digital resources in my class and many have expressed an interest in working in the tech industry.
My school is an IBO school that services a combination of district bound students with magnet students. The students in my class represent a variety of cultures, abilities, and socioeconomic statuses.
My Project
A clean learning environment with readily available materials can provide students with confidence that they can accomplish their goals in class. Learning to create original digital content can be a very exciting creative outlet but it can quickly become overwhelming for students who have limited knowledge of drawing with a computer mouse.
Headphone hangers and digital graphics tablets will clean up both my classroom environment and student animations by providing them with the materials necessary to successfully complete class projects.
Headphone hangers will allow students to have headphones readily available and organized at their computers at all times. By giving them the option of drawing digital designs by hand on a digital graphics tablet instead of using a mouse, students can focus on learning how to use classroom software to their full ability instead of stressing over learning how to draw with a mouse. The students will be able to get more excited about their products and produce higher quality digital graphics.
