My Students

Students are both aware and concerned about the need for safety in our world in so many ways, one of which is public water fountains. Many places have them closed but in a school that is not possible. One benefit of filtered water bottle filling stations in schools is their ability to safely provide drinking water for individuals. This provides peace of mind while allowing students and teachers to remain hydrated.

David Suzuki said "I can't imagine anything more important than air, water, soil, energy, and biodiversity.

These are the things that keep us alive." These things are taken for granted. Filtered water bottle filling stations are effective, efficient, and affordable ways to sustain water that is free from contaminants while encouraging individuals to stay healthy and hydrated.

Our community is very diverse as it is comprised of a large Title I, English Language Learners (ELL), and special education population. The students in the high school are ethnically diverse. Regularly, 41% of students receive free or reduced-price lunches; this year, everyone benefits from free lunch.

My Project

Most people don't drink as much water as they should. A trip to the water fountain in school, something that is not as safe and hygienic during the COVID era, means time out of class, which in turn means less time learning. The solution is an Elkay bottle filling station will filters that will reduce contaminants in water.

Proper hydration aids in the regulation of the body temperature, removes waste, cushions and lubricates joints, and protects sensitive tissues.

Carrying around a water bottle to refill throughout the day will allow my students to develop and maintain proper hydration.
