My students need tissues, soap, and wipes to keep our classroom clean and sanitary. We had a rough flu season and went through our last cleaning package very quickly. The snacks are for hungry students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in grades 9th through 12th and have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Almost all of my students come from a low-income family and receive free or reduced lunch. They are in the resource program at my school and are on the general education curriculum. Despite their learning needs, they strive to succeed at a comprehensive high school. My school is a visual and performing arts school and they have a passion for the arts. Many of my students or talented in music, fine arts, dance, or theater.
My Project
This project is similar to my last project which included sanitary items like wipes, soap, tissue, and snacks. We had a rough flu season and it definitely helped when we kept our classroom clean and prevented the germs from circulating. I have the students wipe down their desks every day. The students went through all the snacks from the last project within a few weeks. Many of our students stay after school for tutoring and have long days without eating the school food. By the end of the day, many of our students are tired and hungry. Sometimes, they don’t get home until 5pm or 6pm because they take the bus and train back home. The snacks really gave them an extra boost of energy. They also know that they can come to my classroom anytime to ask for a snack if they forget to bring one from home that day.
