Clean Floors for Learning

My Project

Being a Title I-funded school means that many of our students eat breakfast in our classrooms, and sometimes we need to clean up messes. The weather has also been very wet with rain and snow, so students tend drag in mud and dirt throughout the day. Most of the time I have my students sit at the carpet while I'm teaching to ensure that they are paying attention and focused on what we are learning. Sometimes I sit at the carpet with them when working with a small group of students. With limited educational funds in the state of Nevada, our janitor is not able to vacuum classrooms more than once per week, and sometimes not at all! Having a clean space for our students to learn is just as important as having a warm meal to eat and warm clothes to wear. This vacuum cleaner would allow us to have a clean floor to sit on while learning. A class vacuum would also support their social emotion needs by creating a class job in which students could rotate vacuuming the classroom. This vacuum will help our classroom stay clean and tidy throughout the day as well as supporting the social emotional needs of my students.
