Clean Clothes

Help me give my students a washing machine for school to help those that can't afford to wash their clothes and uniforms at home. Having this washing machine will help students to be clean and ready to learn!

My Students

Working in an urban area, we have a lot of students that come from economically challenged homes. They aren’t able to afford basic hygienic needs such as clean clothes. Most of our students have to pay at laundromats to wash their clothes. Sometimes, they don’t either have the money or their parents don’t have the time to wash them for school so they come dirty or with an odor. We wear uniforms so some students will wear the same uniform for multiple days. This effects their learning because they can’t consentrate or they miss class time for not having their uniforms on.

My Project

Students who have clean clothes on for school each day, will not only feel more confident, but they will also be able to focus their attention on their learning. The washing machine will provide a safe, clean, environment for students who don't have a washing machine in their homes, and can't always afford to pay to wash their clothes. Students in our school wear uniforms. They are sometimes out of uniform because they say they had no clean uniforms to wear. This can result in missed class time because of the consequences for being out of uniform. Parents and students may be embarrassed that they can't afford to wash their clothes. This removes that hardship from their lives, which in turn, creates less stressed, happier families.
