Help me give my students laundry detergent and reusable wool dry balls for clean clothing!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Established in 1979, our school provides educational and support services for children with hearing or vision loss in our county public school system.
Some of the students have additional challenges that magnify the impact of the vision or hearing loss.
Each student has special needs and requires extensive technology and assistance to succeed in a school setting. Students attend classes at one of three locations: the elementary campus, the middle school campus, or the high school campus. In addition, itinerant services are provided throughout our county for students whose disability is not severe enough to require full-time placement on one of the campuses.
Services are also provided in neighboring counties. We currently have over 70 children in our elementary campus but serve over 350 students throughout the school system.
Our students often have accidents and messes that make their clothing dirty!
These materials will ensure our students have clean clothes and sheets!
Our Pre-K students take naps daily on their cots. Their cots are covered with sheets and they use blankets that need to be washed weekly. Our teachers wash these items every Friday to ensure a clean resting spot for their students the upcoming week.
The laundry detergent and wool balls will also be used to clean blankets from other classrooms and multiple uniforms. Some of our students come from low income households and often come to school with dirty clothes. We strive to make every student feel clean and comfortable and this may mean washing their uniforms. We have a uniform closet that our students are able to access whenever they need. Once the clothes are washed, they are returned to the student to take home so they will have a clean uniform for the upcoming school day.
Many of our students are currently working on being potty-trained as well, and accidents happen! The laundry detergent and wool balls will be used to clean these uniforms as well!
Thank you for supporting our students and their need to be clean!
